This course provides 144 hours of lecture/lab preparation and the basic skills necessary to assist the dentist in an entry level position. Four handed instrument exchange, impressions and study casts, preparing dental materials, infection control procedures, and hands on practice is essential to the understanding of the vital role of a dental assistant. The dental x-ray portion of the course provides knowledge of the production and use of dental x-rays and clinical instruction while preparing the student for dental x-ray certification through the Dental Assisting National Board as mandated by the State of Delaware. The x-ray certification fee is not included in the price of the dental assisting course.
